Sunrisers Hyderabad Rise above Royal Challengers Bangalore; Win Match by 8 Wickets

sunrisers3New Delhi, Tuesday, April 14 – With each passing day, Indian Premier League is getting into an extremely interesting phase. In a contest between Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, the latter remained at the top side the moment they started to chase the target set by RCB. David Warner, the SRH skipper, won the toss against the men in red caps and decided to field first. The start wasn’t effective as Chris Gayle, the hard hitter of the ball, and RCB captain Virat Kohli felt the ease in playing shots and opt the attacking mode right from the beginning.

Capitalizing on the home advantage seemed to be their prime motto and the opening duo made sure to set a strong base in the first few overs, to take away pressure from middle and lower order batsmen. Praveen Kumar gave the first and surprising breakthrough to his teammates, sending Gayle back to the pavilion on the third bowl of 6th over. The left-handed batsmen Gayle, who lately played a beautiful 96-run innings against Kolkata Knight Riders, hit 3 fours and a six in his 21-run knock a day ago. His dismissal made wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik to arrive on the crease and hold the fort. However, before contributing any significant runs, he fell short to Karn Sharma.

AB de Villiers was the new man on the pitch. The name is alone adequate to terrify bowlers as the 31-year-old is now one of the dangerous players in T20 and 50-50 over match format. The moment he started to bat, Ravi Bopara earned the wicket of Kohli who pocketed 41 runs off 37 balls, together with 4 boundaries and a couple of sixes. Mandeep Singh was out for in the same over, giving Bopara a treat. Darren Sammy (6 runs off 9 balls) failed to take advantage of the opportunity that came his way thanks to quick dismissals.

Trent Boult put a ceiling on RCB from scoring runs in pace by taking wicket of de Villiers (46 runs off 28 balls; 4 x 5 and 6 x 2). The bowlers made Sean Abbott and Harshal Patel go back and mull over other tactics to bat at 14 and 2 runs, respectively. Bhuvneshwar Kumar did rest of the job as he took two wickets in the form of Abu Nechim (4 runs off 2 balls; 4 x 1) and Varun Aaron (6 runs in 3 balls; 6 x 1). Yuzvendra Chahal was not out at 1. With 16 extras, Royal Challengers Bangalore put a total of 166 runs on the scoreboard that was not too easy to attain.

However, nullifying the thought of several RCB fans, SRH achieved the target in 17.2 overs. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that IPL matches have brought huge change in the approach of cricketers. And this was visible clearly as the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s openers David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan struck fifties in sheer confidence. The SRH lost their first wicket at a total score of 82 as Warner (57 runs in 27 balls; 4 x 6 and 6 x 4) completely demolished the bowling attack of RCB. Yuzvendra Chahal brought his team a little bit back in the game by dismissing Kane Williamson at a score of 5. But that was the last moment for Royal Challengers Bangalore to jump in joy for the reason that the 29-year-old Shikhar Dhawan and Lokesh Rahul remained unbeaten at 50 and 44 runs, respectively to let their squad taste victory with 16 balls remaining.

Expectations were already soaring from the young cricketers and Rahul somewhere proved the confidence of SRH’s supporters right. His knock was an incredible experience to watch thanks to classy 4 boundaries and 1 biggie. Words are less to express a stable innings from Dhawan who remained focused on the goal, kept on sending the ball into the fences and continued to take singles & run for twos whenever possible. With a run rate of 9.92, Sunrisers Hyderabad made 172 runs and inflicted 8-wicket defeat on Royal Challengers Bangalore. In today’s content, Rajasthan Royals will compete in opposition to Mumbai Indians. Hundred percent efforts are needed to be poured by MI as they have lost both the two lately held matches.  RR, on the other hand, are ranking at no. 2 position in the points table with great wins in a couple of games. Challenges are going to increase in the near future for the playing XIs that are losing the match against the rivals.

The top four teams will enter in the next round. All the participating squads will have to stand out in 60 matches if the motto is to lift the IPL 2015 winner’s trophy at the end. There remains enormous chance to bounce back in the competition. Not to forget that defending champions KKR had a wobbly start in UAE leg but rebounded the moment they landed on India soil. Audience need to wait and see which teams perform to the best of their abilities to obtain the leading position.
