mangoNew Delhi, Thursday, April 2 – The news of finding mangoes at a high price this year is supposed to disappoint mango lovers. The king of all fruits is reportedly going to taste bitter this summer season thanks to low production.

If latest reports are to be trusted then untimely rainfall last month in a number of crop producing states damaged standing crops. It made mango production to dip by a few percent. Owing to crop damage in several regions due to unseasonal precipitation in March, mangoes are sold a bit high price these days. Many of the mango varieties are priced at INR 150 per kg, which is not affordable. Being dearer, it is going out of reach for middle and lower classes.

Unmatched taste and lingering flavor make mango indubitably everyone’s favorite. The smooth draw and totally flavored exhale of the fruit delight taste bud of the eaters. This is the reason why demand of mangoes is always up every year than any other fruit. Scenario is supposed to be a tad different this time given they will have to be ready to shell out extra money to relish mangoes without compromising on the quantity.

Exports order from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Qatar and Kuwait and shortage of delicious seasonal mangoes may hit the final nail in the coffin. Closing the eyes to the possibility to splurge isn’t possible. Unwanted rain is said have affected 10 to 20 percent of the mango output, setting the base for turning the fruit expensive.

Even raw mango is sold at INR 120 per kg in the national capital. Buyers will have to wait a little bit more to see stocks reaching Delhi market which will take the rate down to a certain extent. Budget of several households is going to be affected if mangoes are purchased in good amount. All in all, costly mangoes are all set to burn a hole in customers pocket in next to no time. Populace will be left with no option but either to spend a lion’s share on money to get the fruit or leave it in the stores. A clear picture over mango price will be painted only after giving a glance over total production of the fruit.
