Fort Collins, Colo. – August 24, 2022 – Schneider Electric, the global leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, today announced IEEE 2030.5 CSIP certification for EcoStruxure DERMS and EcoStruxure ADMS.

With IEEE 2030.5 certification, EcoStruxure DERMS – the #1 ranked DERMS vendor as recognized by Guidehouse Insights Leaderboard – now provides new, enhanced capabilities to interface with Distributed Energy Resources (DER). Advanced monitoring and control capabilities also provide ultimate situational awareness, grid constraint management and maximized DER hosting capacity.

IEEE 2030.5 represents the most comprehensive communications interface for DER connected to smart inverters such as solar panel installations, battery energy storage systems and electric vehicle chargers. EcoStruxure DERMS and EcoStruxure ADMS are two of the first solutions to combine 2030.5 with its core capability to aggregate DER at any level of the network hierarchy, allowing implementation of a wide range of grid services by using DER flexibility in a holistic and orchestrated way. The latest version of EcoStruxure DERMS leverages key IEEE 2030.5 characteristics such as:

• Integration of DER covering the full spectrum of smart inverter functionalities

• Internet-based protocol requiring no communication infrastructure upgrades

• Enabling a secure, interoperable and plug-and-play ecosystem of smart grid devices at the grid edge

The IEEE 2030.5 certification is yet another milestone for Schneider Electric’s “Grid to Prosumer” approach for end-to-end DER management. From Grid to Prosumer, Schneider Electric helps utilities manage the DER lifecyle, aligning processes and technology across business functions to proactively address grid optimization, flexibility services, and prosumer engagement.

“IEEE 2030.5 certification is one more step that confirms our commitment to continuous innovation for evolving regulations, standards and technologies,” Vladan Krsman, vice president, digital grid operations management, said. “Schneider Electric will continue to deliver the future-proof solutions supporting the clean energy transition journey of our partner utilities.”

California is the first state where IEEE 2030.5 is the default protocol that smart inverters must support. The standard is becoming globally recognized, with the United States and Australia leading the way. SunSpec Alliance completed the official testing of the EcoStruxure interface and issued the certification.

“SunSpec Alliance was an outstanding partner, providing consistent support and communication,” Krsman said. “We appreciate SunSpec’s collaboration and guidance throughout the certification process.”
