Rail Budget to Be Out Soon by New Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda; All Eyes on Big Proclamations

Rail budgetNew Delhi, Tuesday, July 8 – The D-day has arrived for Modi government and for the residents as well for the reason that Railway Minister Devaragunda Venkappa Sadananda Gowda is all set to present first rail budget today. The newly formed government is likely to proclaim more than a few announcements, which are anticipated to benefit the customers in the best possible ways.

Safety has been a key point that has disappointed travelers several times. Chain snatching, mobile phone theft and robbery incidences in many trains gave birth to fear factor amongst them and they look forward to some stringent steps that could put a ceiling on such incidences in the near future. Cleanliness has been an issue from longtime even in high speed trains for instance Rajdhani Express. There is possibility of introducing disposable bedding sheets and cushion covers in luxury trains to get rid of passengers’ complains.

Bullet train is likely to be one of the mega projects in the country that would cover long distance within an hour or two. A number of upcoming changes or new announcements are also on the cards. Although there is least probability of announcing new trains and new routes this year, however, Varansi and Lucknow are expected to see some good news. Lucknow may get a few surprises as Gomti Nagar may be upgraded as second railway terminus where major trains would halt instead of Charbagh railway station. This will help in decongesting Charbagh railway station as hundreds and thousands of commuters gather daily to board their respective trains, overcrowding the platforms. EMUs coming from Kanpur Central will also get a way to reach Gomti Nagar without killing time. If this happens for real, nothing can be great than this piece of information for the locals who have to commute between these two stations for their studies and to earn bread and butter. On the other hand, intercity trains linking Varanasi junction with quite a few nearby stations are also apparent.

High speed train at Delhi-Agra route was already done a few days ago. Hopes of daily rail users are up as of now and they want to finish their journey within short span of time. During the trial run last week of a train at a pace of 160kmph, passengers present at different stations (between the routes) were amazed. The 200 kilometer distance is probable to be covered between New Delhi railway station and Agra in approximately 90 minutes, which is far beyond residents’ imagination as most of their times get wasted to wait for their trains. Declaration of automatic gates in Shatabdi Express as like that of metro trains might be done too.

Last but not the least, travelers want no further increase in the rail tickets as this will totally mess up their budget since considerable portion of their salaries is spent to get tickets of different class. Being a key mode of transportation, the number of commuters in train is increasing day by day and all assertions are to be done keeping this in mind. Countdown has already begun as rail budget will be out at 12 pm on Tuesday.
