Big Contest on the Cards as India to Compete with England at Southampton

dhoni newNew Delhi, Friday, July 25 – Inflicting a humiliating defeat of 95 runs over the English players, India now gear up to pocket victory even in the third Test Match and take a solid lead of 2-0 in the 5-match Test series. Trent Bridge Test already finished in a draw that means another victory in the upcoming match, which is to be played at the Rose Bowl, Southampton, on Sunday, July 27, will send the hosting country at the back foot.

England are likely to arrive on the crease with a few changes. The 23 year old player Joseph Charles Buttler will replace Matt Prior in the third Test. Expectations of the English selectors are already up with the young wicketkeeper. A few changes are also probable to be seen in the upcoming contest. Since both India and England are undergoing huge transformation, possibility of taking someone in or showing a few others a way out always remains.

Regardless of facing the mind-numbing defeat at the hands of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s playing XI, England skipper Alastair Cook and his squad will not leave any stone unturned this time to equalize the series by 1-1. English team have a number of potential cricketers who can score big against Indian bowling attack, however, they are surely going to a bit cautious than before. The way Ishant Sharma bowled his overs at the Lord’s is a lesson for Cook’s men. The 25-year-old pacer was on fire with his fast bowling, making England to succumb at the earliest. The record of 7 for 74 runs is enough to tell about his competence to turn the game in favor of India at any point of time.

In spite of some amazing and unexpected performances from Murali Vijay, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja and of course Bhuvneshwar Kumar, cricket fans wait for Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan to exhibit the stupendous play for which they are known across the world. Even though Dhawan hit a number of astounding boundaries in the earlier played matches, but best is yet to come out from him as he has the latent to play far better than the previous innings.

Performances of Gautam Gambhir, who made a comeback into the Test squad, and Rohit Sharma might be seen soon, however, perhaps not this time. On the other hand, there is a huge probability to see Ravichandran Ashwin impressing everyone with his spin magic. Varun Aaron, Wriddhiman Saha and Pankaj Singh may be given chances to play but possibly at a stage where India gain foothold and get success in registering victory at least in a couple of matches. On the whole, die-hard cricket fans are going to glue with their TV screens and follow ‘ball by ball’ updates for the reason that none wants to miss the action at any cost, especially when matches are lined up to take place amid English conditions.
